A Rich Culinary Tradition

All fragrances and aromas blend in Vrsar to give a harmonious overture into the characteristic gastronomy of Istria. Sea food, grilled fish and meat delicacies that can be tasted in charming restaurants and authentic konobas (taverns) are just a small part of the rich gourmet experience offered by Vrsar.

The two outstanding restaurants located at Lim Bay, Fjord and Viking, have been popular with many generations of foreign guests. The Vrsar Marina features Trošt, one of the most renowned restaurants in Istria and Croatia, with affordable prices and guaranteeing a unique experience. These are facilities whose renown is justified every day by hard work and insistence on excellent quality and guests’ satisfaction.

When in Lim Bay look for fish specialties, shellfish and crabs; with Trošt offering also a rich selection of meat dishes, dishes prepared under the baking lid (pod pekom), and home-made ice-cream. In the village of Flengi, only a 10-minute drive away, among other restaurants there is also the family tavern (konoba) Laura, one of the oldest of its type in Istria.

Charming venues can be found also in the nearby village of Kloštar. On the southern entrance to Vrsar, next to the main road, there is the Vrsaranka, a symbol of local catering and a place where the rich tradition of local cookery has never ceased to exist.
