Hot and dry summers with long, sunny days, along with mild and rainy winters, are the main characteristics of an exceptionally pleasant Mediterranean climate, which will be experienced by the travellers to Vrsar and its surroundings.
June, July, and August are marked by hot weather, mostly without any rain. When occasionally there is some, the rainfall is of short-duration and you can soon marvel at the clear, sunny sky above this little coastal town.
The average air temperature in July is 24°C, while the January average is around 5°C. The average amount of rainfall in Vrsar ranges from 800-900 mm, which is one of the lowest in Istria.
Periods of intense heat, when the air temperature exceeds 30°C, last only for a few weeks. When, in the middle of the summer day, you feel a sea-breeze, it is the gentle maestral, a welcome refreshment during the summer heat.
The sea temperature in summer might even reach up to 28°C, while in winter it drops down to about 7°C. Many swimmers start the swim season already in May and savour the benefits of the sea all the way to October, when bathing is still rather pleasant.
In winter the mercury rarely drops below zero, while snow in Vrsar is such a rare occurrence. The wintry wind bura (bora) brings along cold, but still clear weather, while the other local wind, jugo, brings along warmer, but rainier weather.
