Recognising the potential of nautical tourism, a modern and high-quality marina was built in Vrsar, with accompanying high-level facilities. For almost two centuries, it has been successfully cherishing and developing that demanding and important segment of the tourism offer. The Vrsar Marina was built on the location of a natural quayside sheltered by the island of Sveti Juraj, thus preserving the natural harmony. The construction began in 1998 (when the first breakwater works began) and were completed in 1999, when the first vessel was moored in it.

It is a facility that significantly contributes to the beauty of the view of the Vrsar quayside, preservation of the quayside ambient with regard to the highest environmental standards, and the quality of the tourism offer of Vrsar and Istria as a whole. The Vrsar Marina is open the whole year round, has two hundred moorings, and is visited by both navigators who keep their vessels moored in the Marina all the time and by transiting navigators, the latter being substantially more numerous. Since the waterway is 7-14 m deep, yachts as many as 50 m long can be moored there. With regard to the criteria of cleanliness, environmental protection, ambient and facility, client courtesy and prices in the marina and its restaurant, it is the highest-quality marina on the eastern Mediterranean coast. Just as old seamen were glad to come to the ambient of the Vrsar quayside on their maritime routes along the western coast of Istria, so modern mariners put their trust in the Vrsar quayside and marina.

The construction of a nautical marina in Vrsar significantly improved the local nautical tourism. It was a significant step forward on the quality of the offer of this destination, as evidenced by the awards the Marina routinely wins. The Vrsar Marina has been declared the best marina on the eastern Mediterranean in multiple categories year after year by the specialised German webpage Skippertipps, primarily owing to its quality offer for navigators and to its richly equipped facilities.
