Tea Kovačević and Richard Krizan - winners of the Slavoj Greblo Memorial

Excitement and fun in the tense finale of the tennis tournament was not lacking this year either, and Vrsar once again shone as an unavoidable tennis destination, providing top sports conditions.

Slavoj Greblo Memorial, the traditional international tennis tournament for tennis players under 12 was held from March 18 to 26 in Vrsar. Tea Kovačević from Bosnia and Herzegovina is the winner in the girls category, while the boys category winner is Richard Krizan from Slovakia. In a tense finale, Tea Kovacevic defeated Victoria Novakova 6-4, 6-2, while Richard Chrysan beat Evan Giurescu of France 1-6, 6-1, 6-3..

In the girls doubles competition, the tournament was won by the Ferestean / Olariu couple from Romania, and in the boys doubles competition the best were Stojiljković / Živković couple from Serbia.

This year's 37th edition of the Memorial, organized by the Galeb Tennis Club, the Maistra Hotel Company and the Vrsar Tourist Board, brought together more than 100 young athletes from as many as 14 countries who showed exceptional sports skills last week. On the courts of Maistra's tennis centers Petalon and Koversada, young tennis players competed in as many as 102 matches played with the aim of winning points for Tennis Europe in the 1st category.

The tournament was attended by 32 Croatian representatives, of which the young promising tennis player Rene Bertos, two-time Croatian champion in the under-12 category, stands out. Among girls, Sophia Santos (semifinals) and Marta Džanić (quarterfinals, lost to the later winner Tee Kovačević) came the furthest. In the boys' competition, the Croatian representatives reached the second round (Rene Bertos, Patrick Voljavec and Nino Vižintin). In the doubles competition, Mia Brozina and Sophia Santos and Rene Bertos and Manuel Matešić proved to be the most successful, reaching the semifinals.

Vrsar has proven again to be an excellent host of sports competitions, but also a very grateful tennis destination with more than 60 courts located right by the sea and pine forests that provide a unique experience of white sports throughout the year, both guests and locals. Therefore, it is not surprising that every year more and more recreational tennis players from many European countries recognize Vrsar as a quality destination for holidays, tournaments and training.

This is supported by the extremely mild Mediterranean climate of this part of Europe, but also the inevitable top gastronomy that always takes care of a healthy diet adapted to athletes.
