On Wednesday, 15 October, a training session was held for front office managers and housekeeping managers of the hospitality and tourism company Maistra d.d.. The training formed part of the company’s internal professional development programme and its ongoing investment in strengthening the competencies of its staff. One segment of the programme was dedicated to the interpretation of local gastronomy and to exploring ways of integrating it into the destination’s tourism offer. Within this segment, the Vrsaranski amareti and the activities related to the revitalisation of their traditional recipe were presented by guest lecturers.
During the theoretical part of the training, led by Tea Štifanić, participants were introduced to the development process of the amareti. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of preserving the traditional recipe, while the process of its revitalisation and its gradual reintegration into the local community and the tourism offer were also presented.
The practical part of the workshop focused on the preparation of amareti, giving participants the opportunity to actively engage in the making process. The workshop was led by Barica Pisak, winner of the Najbolji amareti 2024. competition, who demonstrated the key steps in preparing this traditional sweet and shared valuable practical knowledge and experience with the participants.
An additional educational component was a sensory and interpretative station led by Rosana Giusti, where participants learned about the historical cultivation of hazelnuts in Vrsar. As part of the same segment, a hazelnut liqueur produced by Imagine Spirits was also presented, further highlighting the connection between local producers and the tourism sector in creating an authentic gastronomic experience.
