To mark the International Day for Biodiversity and the Nature Protection Day in Croatia, Science education centre Kontija is hosting a fun and educational morning event for everyone – especially families with children.
What to Expect
From 10:00 to 13:00, visitors can explore a variety of educational stations and take part in interactive workshops that highlight the importance of preserving nature and biodiversity.
“Pollinators – the Invisible Heroes of Nature”

• Take a close look at a real beehive
• Learn how bees live, communicate and why they’re vital for our food and ecosystems
• Discover the essential role of pollinators in maintaining ecological balance
“Invasive Species Around Us”
Organiser: Institute of Agriculture and Tourism, Poreč
• Workshop suitable for all ages
• Learn how invasive species can pose a threat, but also serve as potential resources (food, medicine)
• Explore the microscopic world using magnifiers and microscopes
• Develop ecological literacy through hands-on activities
“Pinecone Exhibition”

• A unique collection of cones from around the world
• See the largest and smallest cones in the world
• A visually and educationally rich exhibit for kids and nature lovers alike

• Creative workshop using forest materials
• Perfect for children and parents to explore nature through art
Additional Information
• All activities are free of charge and suitable for all ages
• Coffee, herbal forest tea, water and cakes will be available
• An electric mini train runs every 30 minutes between Kloštar and ZEC Kontija
• Motor vehicle access is prohibited – arrive on foot, by bike or by mini train
• Bring a picnic, blanket or ball, and enjoy a relaxed morning in the forest
