As part of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, a special event titled “Two Stories, One Heritage” will take place in Vrsar, celebrating the fusion of Italian and Istrian traditions through sweet delicacies. Visitors can look forward to a presentation and tasting of the famous Italian liqueur Amaretto, the original Italian biscuits Amaretti Lazzaroni, and the locally made Vrsar hazelnut amaretti, in a symbol of “sweet twinning” between two stories – one Italian, one Istrian.
The base for producing the Italian Amaro and Amaretti is peach or apricot pits, while the unique characteristic of the Vrsar Amaretti is that they are made with hazelnuts. Though made from different ingredients, these two delicious worlds share common roots, united by tradition, flavor, and a passion for good food.

Under the theme “Italian Cuisine between Culture, Health and Innovation”, the 11th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World brings a rich program of events across various cities, in collaboration with Italian Communities, producers, associations, and local partners.
Through tastings, presentations and cooking demonstrations, the event highlights the aromas and traditions of Italian gastronomy – from Amaretto (both biscuits and liqueur), Istrian delicacies such as Vrsar Amaretti and Momjan “Buzolaia”, to the final “4 Hands Dinner” prepared jointly by Italian and Dalmatian chefs.
Launched in 2016, this international initiative is one of the most established projects promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, with over 10,000 events held in more than 100 countries worldwide.
