Giacomo Casanova, the world’s most famous seducer, and his visits to Vrsar at the time of the Vrsar County period served as an inspiration for the Casanova Tour.
Upon visiting Vrsar in the mid 18th century, the famous Venetian adventurer and lover Giacomo Casanova did not remain indifferent to the charms of that fishing port on the west Istrian coast, where he dined excellent fish, prepared in local oil, and treated himself to the superb red wine refošk. A kind-hearted local priest offered him accommodation, and Casanova was pleased not only with the excellent refošk served at dinner but also with the attentions of the young and beautiful priest’s maid, with whom he started a brief love affair.
