Oysters from Lim Bay

One of the best locations for oyster farming is the Lim Bay, a natural bay situated on the west coast of Istria. The oysters farmed in the Lim Bay belog to the Ostreidae family. The Ostreidae family oysters are flat and sligtly convex on one side, grey and their flesh is juiciy, subtly sweet and abundand.

Even if the oysters are available all year long, they are best enjoyed in winter and late spring. There are noumerous ways for preparing oysters, but perhaps the best way to enjoy them is fresh, preferably drizzled with a few drops of lemon juice and served with warm toast and butter on the side. The istrian wine we really like to match with Lim oysters is Istrian malvasia.

In Lim Bay the sea water and river water mix underwater and create favorable conditions for oysters but also other clams like mussles, warty venus and arkshells

There are two restaurant in the bay that serve fish, clams and of course, oyster specialties. In the Bay you can visit as well the oyster and clams growing site and get insight information about this Istrian delicacy directly from the producer.
