Vrsar entrances its numerous visitors with the rousing aroma of fresh grilled fish, as part of the rich Istrian culinary offer, and cheerful socializing while listening to music and dancing throughout the whole summer, from May to September.
From May to September, Vrsar’s favorite seaside promenade transforms into a vibrant stage for the most popular festival dedicated to fishermen and their catch.
On the Vrsar waterfront, by the sea, surrounded by the aroma of freshly prepared fish and a relaxed atmosphere, the traditional Fishermen’s Festival takes place – a celebration of local heritage, gastronomy, and community.
Throughout the evening, visitors can taste the flavors of the Adriatic, discover fishing skills firsthand, and enjoy Istrian Malvasia wine accompanied by music that naturally follows the rhythm of summer by the sea.
The Fishermen’s Festivals in Vrsar are dedicated to fish and seafood, with the program regularly continuing deep into the warm Mediterranean night.
Children’s Program – The Sea Through Play
A themed children’s corner awaits the youngest visitors, featuring free workshops inspired by the sea: drawing, creating aquariums, fishing games, and a variety of creative activities. Children are invited to participate and discover the flavors of fish dishes.
Gastronomic Offer – The Sea and Istria on a Plate
The offer is organized through themed stations: white fish, oily fish, shellfish, and fritto misto, along with homemade desserts, Istrian wines, and brandies. Visitors can enjoy fish patties made from oily fish, stuffed sardines, pljukanci pasta with chanterelles and wild asparagus, scallops, mussels, fish salad, and more.
The centerpiece of every festival is the traditional fish stew brudet.
